And a global law firm requests to come aboard…

One of my better choices in life has been never to burn an employment bridge. I’ve remained close with every employer I’ve had (save a summer internship) since my freshman year of college, not with a goal of benefiting but just because that’s how I choose to live. Recently an old boss from 15 years ago set up lunch with a person who he thought I could help in some way, even if he wasn’t sure how. After a few hours of meetings and conversation, we bonded and now I have a new client and friend, Esther Roberts Bell. I loved working on her logo to get it just right, present knock-her-socks-off stationery/business card/identity complement, and even introduce her to some colleagues to help her set up her office. I love the website we did for her; check it out here.

The hardest working caterer in show business!

We’re proud to work with Knoxville Catering and Special Events, which will be hosting a free tasting reception this Sunday, Jan. 8 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at their events center in West Knoxville. If you are planning a wedding or corporate event this year, be sure to stop by to sample their fabulous fare and sip on some champagne while you’re there. Check out the News Sentinel announcement here. When he’s not in town catering the area’s toniest business events and weddings, owner Shawn Hines can be found on the road catering to stars like Miranda Lambert, Alison Krauss, Amy Grant, and dozens of more stars with preferences ranging from macrobiotic to meat-focused and everything in between. Trust me, the man who served Ted Nugent crispy fried rattlesnake with jalapeƱo hollandaise has some fantastic stories! But his delicate wedding fare is just as luscious.

Getting the word out!

Today I conducted my first press conference as the Pirate Girl! Not new to this rodeo, admittedly, it still was a great feeling when all three local television stations (WBIR, WATE, WVLT), the daily newspaper (Knoxville News Sentinel), and the local news weekly (Shopper News) all came out to cover the event. I also was so glad to see that U.S. Congressman John J. Duncan, Jr. and three county commissioners — Brad Anders, Ed Shouse, and R. Larry Smith — were in attendance, in addition to many partners on the project from Knox County, HUD, THDA, and the design team. Follow up really DOES pay off! Thanks to Knox Housing Partnership for hiring Pirate Girl for this publicity need. Click here to see the WBIR story.

Steering through the choppy waters of communication

Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services is a client we’ve enjoyed steering through the sometimes choppy waters of community misperception and misinformation. Through media relations, community relations, and a special informational website, we’ve helped to educate Fountain City about the under construction crematory and its absence of environmental and health concerns. See the front page story in the November 7, 2011 Knoxville News Sentinel.
